 Following is printed from The NAPS Yearbook 1952 CRUISE:
 "The Navy Prep Drill Team of thirty members, under the direction of Merrill F. Collier, ET3. has made a name for itself in the Northern Maryland area. The team was awarded a trophy  for being the best appearing military unit in the Hagerstown, Maryland, Armistice Day Parade. Pictured (at left) is Collier presenting this trophy to CDR Carl Tiedeman (Commanding Officer of Service School Command including NAPS).

Merrill is shown above as ET3, USN at NAPS, Midshipman 1/c as President of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1956, and LT, USN serving in USS Thresher (SS 593)
